Clover's priority was to bring JUSTICE to the five lost children who had gone missing down Mount Ebott. Unfortunately, he found a caring group of friends and a home in the Wild East like he'd always wanted.
He knows he's side tracked from his mission, but storming the King's Castle could put those trapped SOULs in danger...so he might as well stick around a little while for his new job as the towns Deputy.
Double unfortunately, after a set of events he can't remember, he wakes up in a strange world with a strange knight he can't quite seem to win over. If he can't bring JUSTICE to those children yet, he'll do whatever he can to assure the same fate doesn't fall to his new friends.
Kris, in their defense just wants to save the world and get out of doing that damn school project.

Without any better ideas, she calls the local kindergarten teacher for help.
“Mizzus Dreemurr? Hey, uh. Hi. Weird question. Do you know any monsters in town that are, like... gray?"
"...What do you mean, it's a HUMAN?"
(Or, a fic where the discarded vessel ends up dumped in Hometown before any of the story takes place, and gets taken in by a local Dreemurr family.)

"You can get that?" She thought cancer was a monster-specific disease, some boogeyman reserved for sick fathers in one of the few rooms of the hometown hospital. Not for— not for her human friend, who's healthy and doesn't have magic to multiply out of control.
"Yeah." They lean against her side, sliding down like a limp cat until their head is on her leg. "Stage three. The doctors found it last week."
Kris gets sick.
