Summary
The sight of his two friends, injured in defense of each other and him, made Toge's heart lurch. He shifted, sitting up straighter as he tried to clear his throat. His muscles spasmed in protest, feeling like nails were being driven into his throat. Having been nearly strangled earlier on top of overextending his cursed speech was doing him no favors, but it wasn't like they could rest at the moment. Not when a hoard of curses was on their tails.
They had no idea if Panda had managed to escape the hoard, let alone make his way back to Ijichi to call for help. Until they heard news, they were on their own.

Although the managers do their best to get accurate information when it comes to missions, even they can be mislead. And when Toge, Maki, and Yuta find themselves in the middle of a mission they weren't prepared for, they must watch each other's backs until help can arrive, whenever that may be.

"They were aiming for me, Blitzo." She hissed, clutching Moxxie's limp hand tightly in her own. Her other hand dug into the styrofoam cup. "They were aiming for me, and I didn't watch my back. Mox got hurt because I got complacent."
"None of us knew they had that... whatever the fuck that was. I should have watched our backs too."
"He's my husband!" With a snarl, she crushed the cup in her hand, letting the coffee spill to the tiled floor below. Blitzo straightened in his chair, but didn't flinch back as Millie stood. "You were watching the Prince's back since he was so damned determined to follow us for Satan knows what, and I was supposed to watch Moxxie's. I didn't. And look what happened. He could have DIED."

When a mission in the human world goes terribly wrong, Millie's left with nothing but her thoughts as she waits for Moxxie to wake up. Blitzo come to keep her company and tries to get her mind off things.

Summary
Concern sparked through Tenna. When he caught side of her face, it magnified tenfold.
Susie looked awful.
The bags under her eyes, usually more stylist choice than anything, seem dark enough to bruise. Her eyes were bloodshot, streaked red and glassy. Her outfit, literally magic itself, was disheveled to the point of rags.
His heart broke when she raised a hand to wave, because that hand was shaking.

The little rat creature retrieved Tenna, because one of his favorite Lightners just doesn't know when to quit training.
Tenna may not have a magical fix for everything, but he's going to make it work.
Susie deserves the world. He can at least give her a movie.

“S'not your fault that—”
“—I hurt you,” Susie finished. She chewed on the concept, the edges of her voice frantic, her throat thick. “Because you deserved it.”
“Yes.” Kris pressed her hands against their chest. They smiled in a way that failed to be reassuring. Each desperate breath shuddering through their lungs confirmed everything Susie didn't want to know. “S’fine. It’s okay.”
Kris burned like a charred pan straight out of the oven, or an oil fire stoked by liquor. Susie reeled away. “You—you were trying to set me up,” Susie accused, trying to edge words around the chasm opening in her gut. “You were trying to get me to hit you.”
Kris wants Susie to hurt them. They need her to hurt them. Susie isn't as on board with the idea as they are.
