Summary
“It’s a good thing you know one very handsome and eligible naval aviator who can fill the role for you.”
Jake almost can’t believe what he’s hearing. Bradley is actually willing to help him out with this? Does the brunet have any idea of what he’s getting himself into? The two of them are going to have to hold hands, wrap their arms around each other, call each other pet names, kiss each other, and be casually affectionate in every way in front of his entire family. Either Bradley is absolutely insane, or he’s just a great man who’s willing to help his friend out.
“Are you actually saying you’d be down to act as my fake boyfriend for five days?”
Bradley shrugs, a cheeky grin on his face. “That depends…”
“On what?”
”Are you asking me?”
Or: Jake finds himself in need of a fake boyfriend for his sister’s wedding. Bradley, as it turns out, is the only person he knows who can play the role.

Summary
“I can’t promise I won’t be a stubborn ass along the way,” he says, wanting Jake to know what he’s getting into. “I’ll do my best not to be,” he promises.
Jake laughs that off, a playful grin on his face. “Oh, I’ll be shocked if you’re anything other than a stubborn ass, but that’s one of your best qualities.”
Bradley rolls his eyes, trying and failing to stifle his smile. Jake always seems to know exactly what to say. “Ha-ha,” he deadpans. “But, Jake, I really don’t know how I’ll ever be able to thank you enough.”
The other man shrugs as if that’s the absolute least of his worries. “I’m not doing this to be repaid, I’m doing it because I care about you,” Jake says, his words hanging in the air for a moment. “So what do you say? Sound like a plan?”
“Yeah,” he says, his tone grateful. “Yeah, it does.”
Or: Bradley sustains several broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder from the mission, and Jake refuses to sit by and watch Bradley handle the recovery all on his own. Pining ensues.

Hen stares at Buck for a long moment, then turns on her heel to walk upstairs. “Chim! Did you know that Peanut is a human child and not a small animal?”
“Buck’s Peanut?” Chim calls back, leaning over the railing. “No? Is she not a dog?”
“No!” Buck replies. “She’s a preschooler!”OR: At 22, Buck got one of his hookups pregnant and decided to keep the baby himself rather than let her be put up for adoption. At 26, he joined the 118. You know the rest, right?

Summary
The Grant-Nash's and Buck head off on a ski holiday only for Bobby and Buck's pasts to collide.
or
“You taught in Minnesota?” Buck nodded, “Whereabouts?”
“Cosmo Park, it’s-”
“In St Paul.” Bobby finished, “I used to take the family there.”
Buck looked over at him with a smile, “Oh yeah? Ski or snowboard?”
“Me, Marcy and Brook would ski, but Robert snowboarded. Whenever we’d go he was with an instructor but he wanted to just go around with me and Marcy, unfortunately we didn’t know the first thing about snowboarding so couldn’t help him, hence the instructor.”
“Yeah, I used to get kids like that, I’d just pretend to be more of a tour guide rather than an instructor, stopped them from acting out.” Buck shook his head with a laugh, only to be cut off by the sound of Bobby’s knife dropping to the floor, Buck turned to look at him, “Bobby?”
“You’d be a tour guide and ‘play games’ with them as a way of disguising exercises, right?” Bobby looked like he’d seen a ghost.
“Uh, yeah?”
“And you were an instructor for the ‘14/’15 season?” Buck nodded, “At Cosmo Park, in St Paul, Minnesota.”
Buck nodded again, letting out a hesitant “Bobby?”
“You taught Robert.”
