For a moment, Shane simply stared at him. Then he blinked.
"Oh."
The response wasn't defensive. He didn’t sound annoyed - if anything, Shane looked caught off guard, almost embarrassed even. It made Ilya feel slightly bad that he had brought this up.
"It happens a lot," Ilya said carefully.
"I mean, I guess, yeah,” the tips of Shane's ears turned pink, and his voice got unexpectedly quiet.
Ilya hesitated before forcing himself to continue, realising there was no going back now.

Summary
Early in 2026 two things kind of happened not too far apart from each other. The show aired and I absolutely fell in love with Franco Lo Presti's interpretation of Cliff and I decided that if I was ever going to post everything I had been writing in a long form cohesive form, I would need to get rid of Roman. Not that I didn't like him, but his was just too complicated a story to have riding under the Hollanov story and give the kind of care and attention that a subject like drug addiction deserves.
So around the start of January I started exploring Cliff and how he would fit in to the band, how to bring him in and what would have positioned him to be able to step in in the first place. So here is Cliff's background story.
