Summary
Penelope had never taught anyone before. She also wasn’t convinced this was going to go well. When she’d read Colin’s writing it had been full of prose, lovely descriptions, and a loose narrative structure that kept you coming back for more. That wasn’t how she wrote. Penelope’s writing was straight to the point, with little-to-no analogies, and would use one word where he might use five.

Summary
Colin hadn’t been looking forward to the Smythe-Smith musicale. He hadn’t even planned to attend as he’d been able to skip it in years past. However, he couldn’t leave things as they’d been with Penelope. Colin pulled off the bandage that Penelope had wrapped his hand in and he carefully set it aside. Something stopped him from throwing it away, at least not just yet.

Summary
Anthony glanced at his brother, who had been uncharacteristically stationed along the wall of the ballroom for the entire night. Well, it would have been uncharacteristic if he hadn’t done the same for the last two balls. Not dancing, not talking to anyone – Colin’s eyes were fixed unerringly on one target as she moved around the room.
His concentration was intense enough that he didn’t seem to notice – or perhaps didn’t care – as Anthony sidled up to him until the Viscount cleared his throat. “Colin,” he began.
“Yes. What is it, Anthony?”
“You’re not – courting, are you? Miss Featherington?” He’d already been surprised by his brother’s romantic and impulsive nature once. He’d prefer to at least have a little warning if it was about to strike again.

Summary
“Perhaps,” Colin answered, “what we need to do is work backwards. Tell me what exactly it is the kind of man you are looking for. Then, I’ll come up with a list of recommendations—at least, that is what I think my mama did for Anthony and Daphne.”
“You would do that?” Penelope asked, quite incredulous.
“I vowed to help you, yes?” Colin grinned. “So do tell me, what do you look for in a husband?"
As part of his project to teach Penelope Featherington the ways of the flirtatious charm, Colin Bridgerton is also eager to help her find the right man to woo into marriage. He discovers what it is that Penelope truly wants, and brings himself up to the task.
