“This shidi thinks he ought to stay by his shixiong’s side and be a filial shidi,” Shen Yuan said, carefully. “Shen-shixiong is sick and alone. It worries me.”
Shen Qingqiu seemed to sober up a little and openly scoffed at this, saying, “Is it because you now know I have a weaker cultivation than even the usual weak? I don’t need your pity.”
“This shidi does not pity shixiong,” Shen Yuan replied quietly. “He only wishes to... I just want to help you with this.”
“Hah. Shen-shidi, you really are so kind,” Shen Qingqiu muttered. The mocking tone was still there, but it came out sounding more wistful than cutting, tinged by exhaustion.
Or: Shen Yuan's perception and bias against the notorious Scum Villain of Proud Immortal Demon Way is challenged. Will it change his feelings about him? If it even requires changing, at all?

Summary
The only thing standing in Shen Jiu's way to becoming a peak lord is a stupid bonded beast. After countless failed attempts, his luck seems to take a turn for the better as he meets a nearly extinct species of beast and manages to bond with it.
It's only... The beast doesn't appear as mindless as expected, and Shen Qingqiu quickly finds himself growing fond of it regardless of the circumstances of their bonding nor his previous attitude towards beasts. Still, no matter how close they grow, he can't shake the feeling of his unlikely companion keeping some secret from him.
