Gale didn't want this.
Gale did everything Mystra ever wanted, and it still was never enough. Clearly. With her slapping divorce papers in front of him. Out of nowhere. So here he was, kicked out of his home, to raise his two young children that Mystra claimed she wanted. Told him he should take them. That 'She needed to figure out what she wanted from life right now'.
Now he had to juggle being a college professor of magic, two children and the fact the love of his life wanted nothing to do with him anymore.
His life was going to hell and he really didn't need his co-workers to add on top of the rubble that was his life right now.

Astarion didn't have very many...guests to invite to their wedding. Aside from their shared new friendships they developed on the journey to save the world, Astarion couldn't name a single other name. Not like Cazador allowed his spawn to 'go make friends' between torture sessions.
So most of the crowd consisted of Gale's family: The Dekarios Clan. And what a clan it was. His mother had a slew of brothers and sisters and all of them had children and then there were grandparents (who were surprisingly still alive?) and distant relatives and family friends and, well, basically the whole gods damn family!
There couldn't have been one person left out.

It wasn't like the Iron Steed had wanted to follow this deranged man, hell-bent on revenge, over the entire god damn country! But it was either betray the mother he already despised or end up dead like his fake siblings. Wasn't that tough of a choice.
