Summary
... OK, not just one thing. But this is basically the most realistic/plausible, happy(ish) alternative ending I could think of.
Much as I may cry my eyes out every time I watch them, I absolutely love the final two episodes of Haven. But since nothing is ever perfect, these are the little differences I would really loved to have seen.

My attempt at an alternate ending to Ep. 3x09 in which Ethan does pull the trigger, but not how Vanessa meant him to. He has sworn that she will not die while he lives and he's not willing to give up on that promise. A happier ending for Ethan and Vanessa. This is part 1 of my series named A Lighter Place which is my own version of a continuation of the show post season 3. Rated T so far. I hope you enjoy.

A beam of light falls across her bare back, while her face remains buried in the pillow as she sleeps. It is not yet six o’clock in the morning and yet Ethan Chandler is wide awake, eyes fixated on the soft, dark curls of Vanessa Ives’ hair.
