Anne leans suddenly over the bed, tugging on my bag strap. “Oh! Oh! Oh! Could you please convince Marilla that I am well enough to come back to school? Or at least to get out of bed?”
I cross my arms and lean against her doorframe. “Hmmm. She does love me…”
“She does!” Anne says, as I watch her hair fall over her neck, unbidden this early in the morning. “More than she loves me!”
“And I am studying to be a doctor…”
“You are! Practically already one!”
“And also the most good-looking guy you’ve ever seen…” I grin.
“Without a dou- Hey!” Anne pushes me as I laugh. “More like owner of the biggest head I’ve ever seen.”
“You obviously haven’t looked in the mirror for a while then.” I cut off her offended gasp by closing the door
