Summary
In room 1410, Ilya Rozanov is ready to walk out the door after successfully getting his teenage hockey rival into bed. He knows what to do to make this happen and he knows what they have to be to each other now that it's over. But as he turns the doorknob to leave, he's stopped with questions he never expected. And giving Hollander what he needs in that moment will change everything.
Author's notes: I’m autistic and see a lot of myself in Shane Hollander. So I thought, in this situation, what if he did exactly what I did the first time I hooked up with someone and didn’t know what the protocol was after it was over, what the next steps were, how to be like everyone else in a moment that felt amazing and confusing at the same time. What if he just asked?
Canon divergent from the first hookup seen in HR s01ep01. Some things are from the show - aged up Marleau and Hunter, mainly - but the timeline is a mix of both. (Notably, they don't wait *two years*, they stick to the book timeline. IYKYK.) Some tags are for later chapters. Summary
The week before the 2017 All-Stars Game, Ilya Rozanov is placed on IR. Ten days later, he disappears from the league entirely. Boston says nothing, and for once, a notoriously fickle league closes ranks.
Every attempt Shane makes to find him hits a wall. In one last desperate, life-altering bid to reach him, Shane comes out to the world, only to be met with Ilya’s silence.
By the time the 2020/21 season begins, Shane has nothing left but hockey and regret. He builds a dynasty, guts his life, and pins the last scraps of his hope on the Metros’ newest transfer, the dangerously hot-headed Cliff Marlow.
Stepping back into the public eye after the worst three years of his life, all Ilya wants is to find some kind of purpose. Shane is done with him, he made that much clear. Ilya isn't about to try to convince himself otherwise. He just wants to prove he still has some use left in him.
Fortunately for both of them, they're still fucking stupid for each other.

Summary

“Mom,” Shane managed.
“Oh sweetie. I know, okay. Those fuckers, how dare they do this! Two fucking cups! Now all of a sudden they decide they want a reset and you’re going to fund it.”
Shane put his head between his knees and tried to breathe. God, Boston. They hated him there; it was so far away; he was fucking their captain.

Summary
What if after tuna melts, whispered names and the Rose of it all - in a post All Stars Game world - Shane thinks the world is finally starting to make sense again to him. Once the ground is firm under his feet - or so he thinks anyway - it's turns out to be less than stable? What if when Shane was getting his hook ups in Mexico and Hollywood - he wasn’t as unnoticed as he had originally thought?
When Montreal shows it’s true colors sooner, a No Trade Clause is waived and Boston gets an opportunity to build a dynasty that rivals the one of their largest rivals up North.
What if Shane and Ilya’s worlds are turned upside down and things with their over 8 year long situationship (now maybe relationship?) suddenly got more complicated and somehow simplified at the same time? Shane honestly thinks this is possibly the most ‘them’ resolution to a situation he has ever found. Ilya is just doing his best - he thinks. Maybe.
Also, the Power Play in Boston is about to be the thing of nightmares, if a certain Russian can stop blocking Shane's damn shot…
