Summary
Summer nights in Gondor are much too hot for Gimli not to inadvertently take off his nightclothes in his sleep. The problem is… a balance between his modesty and the fact that he usually shares a bed with Legolas is difficult to find.
Or: Roselightfairy and I spent so much time talking about this prompt that we decided to surprise each other with our own take at it.From the text:
“One would think a Dwarf to be more used to the heat. What is this summer in a city of Men compared to the flames blazing in the forge?” the Elf teased, and Gimli blinked a couple of times before feeling the morning breeze from the window on his skin.
His garments had been unceremoniously thrown on the floor next to his side of the bed; except for the short undergarments that covered him below the belt, he was naked. The inks, the scars, the hair, the stout limbs, and the stocky chest: everything that, to the eyes of an Elf, was certainly beyond comprehension was exposed. He had no shelter against the eyes of a Firstborn. In secret, under a mountain had Mahal given shape to the bodies of the Seven Fathers; that was no secret to be revealed lightly.

Summary
An exploration of a version of the Legendarium where Thranduil's unnamed spouse and Legolas's second parent is Finrod Felagund — an idea that, absurd as it seems on the surface, actually fits surprisingly well with canon. Originally inspired by this post on tumblr, with additional brainstorming found here. A ridiculous possibility, yes; but one that has been surprisingly fun to approach seriously. Also, see: Beginnings by Zhie.

Summary
About the Nauglamír and the other side of the story. Of culture clash, betrayal, and lost art.
#
“Do you know, Gimli, I would be happy to hear about your people’s memory of the Great Necklace, and the terrible dispute that led to the sack of Doriath. It was a tragedy of deep import."Gimli grew serious; he sat up and looked at Elrond for a long moment with grave, dark eyes. “Forgive me, Lord Elrond, but I don’t think you would. Be happy, I mean, when you heard our account of the thing."
