Summary
For Berk, war was their normal. Astrid used an ax and saw her uncle taken as a little girl, and as young as 14 everyone but Hiccup were putting out fires, gaining scars and seeing people lose everything that belonged to them. Teenagers were raising their siblings, orphans were without homes for periods of time, and fire made the night look like day.
Now that the war is over and their brains aren't constantly scrambling for a solution to deadly situations, the dragon riders are facing the aftereffects. Some have nightmares, some have pain in old scars, and some have memories and what if's plaguing their mind.

For Hiccup, it's the attention bothering him. He enjoys respect, and he likes people liking him for his dragon knowledge, not fighting ability or strength, but after so many years of learning to enjoy being alone to work on his own things, touch and affection are new. When he suddenly has a panic attack on his birthday, the other riders help him by talking about their own experiences.

Summary
Hey, guys. Plasma here. I've decided I am discontinuing this version of this story and will rewrite all the chapters in the future.
I'm sorry to all those waiting, but I have reasons. I wrote this a good while ago, and I was younger and hadn't done a ton of research. After some personal experiences that unfortunately came to be in my own life, and doing some deep thinking about my research, I felt I was not accurately portraying the way people actually think after assault, nor did I write with as much sensitivity to specific things regarding pregnancy or continued relationships after sexual assault as I feel I should have now that I'm older.
I will come back to this idea, but will replace all chapters with better written chapters, so if you read this you can, but it is not the exact version you will see in the future. Thank you if you understand.
