“When will it be enough, Harry?”
Her cerulean eyes bore into his with an intensity that almost caught him off guard. Snow fluttered around them in slow, silent waves.
Snow in spring, just another reminder of how he’d failed.
Hogsmeade was ruined. Bricks that had once held the foundations of memories were now laid bare in crumbled heaps; sections of the cobblestone pathway were simply missing, torn apart for naught but pleasure; ash swirled high above them, turning the afternoon sky into an endless twilight.
She watched him, a devastating plea written across her face.
He smiled. It was sad.
“Until there’s nothing left for me to give.”
The first tear slipped down her cheek.

Summary
Harry wins the Triwizard Tournament only to have the strangest encounter with a resurrected Voldemort that he could've possibly imagined. The wizarding world hates him, his headmaster won't talk to him, and nobody is around to explain how he's meant to handle his world flipping upside down. He already knew that it was inadvisable to meet one's heroes, but he had no idea that was applicable to villains too. With so many conflicting thoughts and a government out for his blood, black and white starts muddling into grey, and Harry slowly comes to realize that he can't really tell which side is darker anymore.
