The surgery wasn’t a big deal, which was why it was so distressing that merely speaking of it made Kaz’s insides curl, his legs shaking, his mouth going dry. The surgery wasn’t the big deal- the Bastard of the Barrel, Dirtyhands, could handle pain and knives- it was the touching.
