As part of his Egyptology studies, 23-year-old Yugi Muto is given the opportunity to travel to the pyramids of Giza to work at a university research project.
For the duration of his stay, he checks into a hotel together with his grandfather, who is also part of the expedition.A foreign country, a language barrier and cultural issues makes it difficult for him to settle in.
Fortunately for Yugi he made new contacts soon: Two staff members from the hotel, Atem and Yami, both speaking Japanese, are pleased to help Yugi feeling more comfortable quickly.

Fun fact: there’s some evidence that most of the “beer” drunk in ancient Egypt was basically non-alcoholic and only festival beer actually got you drunk. Based on this, we can surmise that an accurate Atemu might have absolutely no idea how to pace himself on the good stuff.
I think that you can guess where this is going.
Chapter 1 is 'T' Fluff, Chapter 2 and on is the other stuff and, no, there will be no questionable consent in this or anything else that I write. Ever. Not my thing. We stan healthy relationships and enthusiastic consent in this house!
This is technically a followup to Ma’at, but it functions as a standalone.

You know how YuGiOh is a lot of card games with a little magic thrown into the mix? What if it was a lot of magic with only the occasional card game? That’s the idea we’re playing with here. No filler arcs. Minimal duels. Lots of character development, magic, and boys being cute as they save the world and maybe fall in love along the way. Literally no scene will play out as it did in the original show and we’re going to be deviating from the initial plot almost right out of the gate. The rare bits of content that do match the original narrative will be gone over as quickly as possible.
And while we're at it, let's fix the Egyptology, too.
