There were many things that Astarion appreciated about being an exotic dancer.
However, he had no love for shift work.
The actual problem was trying to find time to scoff down a sufficient meal to keep his stomach from complaining. Which it was right now, only three hours into his shift. Perhaps the Madame wouldn’t mind if he slunk back upstairs, if only to grab a bite to eat.
Then again, there was rarely anything — ugh, gluten free available. The life of a celiac was such a chore.

There was a blue screen flickering in front of them—Hextech, he thought, for a terrified moment, before something in his blood told him they’d fallen asleep watching something together, a movie, which he sort of understood, even if he didn’t think he could explain it.
In the cold glow of the screen, Jayce looked strangely… exposed. It was easier to look at Jayce through the beady white eyes of a god, or his soul in the cosmos, than it was to look at what Viktor had done to him now. For a moment he touched their foreheads together—selfish, selfish—just to feel Jayce’s warmth on his skin. The illusion that he had started something instead of ending it, saved someone instead of ruining him.

The way Viktor holds his pens, the callouses on his fingers; the snag of his crooked tooth when he smiles; the soft way he hums to himself as he works, stopping when he finds something curious; the sharp red marks left by his googles, like someone is annotating Viktor, marking everything he loves. The warm flicker of his eyes when Jayce walks in, that loving moment followed by disinterest, as if he isn’t who Viktor expected him to be.
And the moment before the flicker fades, when Viktor is exactly who Jayce expected him to be.
