His thoughts stopped, for only one beat of silence.
Yes. it was. He would go through any amount of pain to relive those old memories, to go to the arcade with Mei and MK again. He had never smiled that much in his entire life, he had never felt so happy yet mildly annoyed at the same time… He had never felt how he felt with Mei and MK before he met them. He was always bored, or angry, or determined, or some other emotion that he knew he could show without some sort of backlash from his parents. Every emotion he felt could fit in a simple box with a simple word written on it.
There was never happiness. Happiness, true happiness– it was too complex.

Nico di Angelo knew that he should not hold grudges. He shouldn’t hold a grudge against his father, he should hold a grudge against the drunk drivers that killed his sister and mother, and he definitely shouldn't hold a grudge against William Solace, the boy he was friends with from ages six to ten.
He had no reason to hate him. They were friends, then Will disappeared, and they weren't friends. It was a simple falling out, nothing more. Yet here Nico was, a bitter taste in his mouth as he walked into his first class on his first day of his senior year, seeing none other than Will sitting in the front row of seats, looking at something on his phone.
OR
will and nico were childhood friends. after will disappears without any reasoning, nico gives up on ever seeing him again-- until he sees him during his first day of his senior year.

Small burns lay on his arms, wasn’t it funny, how a fire demon could get burnt? Had he flown too close to the sun, perhaps, but could you blame him, the sun was so beautiful, so sharp. It hurt to stare into, yet he stared into it nonetheless, accepting its warmth and pain, accepting his blinded fate.
His fate was known to him. It had once been to run the world with his parents, take over everyone and everything, but that dream had long crashed and burned, changed by the fates of the Monkey King and his team.
He found himself strangely un-upset by this. He was not happy, by any means, to be defeated yet again, and right when he had finally freed his father, but he was not upset either. He sat in his room and he accepted that fate, that strange, strange fate, that fate of simply just… Existing, of having friends, even if those friends were the enemy.

the two have one thing in common: a shittly hidden crush that one is a oblivious to, and the other is painfully aware of.
