Summary
In a land on the brink of unraveling, Kaguya and Subaru stand on opposite sides of a dying world. As Azuma’s fate hangs in the balance, both are plagued by haunting dreams - fragmented memories of another life, a forgotten village, and a monumental bond that had been all but breakable.
Kaguya fights to restore harmony. Subaru seeks to tear the rot out at its roots. But as battle lines blur and the past begins to resurface, they’re forced to confront and unravel truths neither of them expected.
A plot retelling of Guardians of Azuma with Kaguya in the lead and Subaru cast as a reluctant antagonist. This story dives deep into their shared history, shifting loyalties, and the quiet, aching love that blossoms again - even after everything in between.

"Ginger," Kaguya replied in a hoarse whisper, leaning into her husband's touch.

Summary
Nothing here is meant to fit. Their love, their marriage, their family — each of these things consist of parts made for a different machine; one less faulty than Cuilang. Despite this, under Subaru’s hands, everything clicks gently into place. This life shouldn’t run smoothly. Yet it does, because of him.
-
Cuilang warned Subaru from the beginning that they couldn’t grow old together. As his body ceases to function part by part, he says a slow goodbye to everything he has learned to love.
