Maybe Buck was right, this felt great. Maybe all Eddie needed was a night out at a bar to get his head straight. Buck.
“I’m gonna call Buck,” Eddie told Adriana, his words slurred drunkenly.
“Your hot firefighter friend?” She asked, a smile on her face.
“My hot firefighter BEST friend,” replied Eddie loudly, not realizing Buck had already picked up the call.

https://x.com/rizcriz/status/1910858797792350498“Buck?” Eddie’s soft voice comes from the doorway, his voice laced with concern. Eddie glances at the computer, seeing the listings of houses. It clicks in his head what’s happening and he immediately lets go of Buck to pull a chair right next to him. “Lay it out for me,” he says, his voice gentle. Buck stares at him, eyes widening ever so slightly.
“What?” Buck croaks, his voice a little raw from crying.
“What do you want? What do you need?” Eddie asks, nodding his head toward Buck’s computer. Buck looks to it, staring at it for a second, before realizing Eddie knows exactly what is going on. Without Buck having to say a single word.
“I really want to be her dad,” Buck finally whispers, looking back to Eddie. Eddie disappears into the kitchen for a minute. He comes back with a notebook and a pen.
“You’re looking for a new house?” He asks Buck, sitting back down. Buck stares at him for a minute, sniffling.
Nodding, he says, “I can’t bring a baby here.”
“Why not?”
“This is your house,” Buck says. He shakes his head.
“It’s our house,” he says, his voice firm.

“Do not make this more difficult for us. If Buck ends up pouting for the next hour because he thinks you’re not having fun, I’m murdering you,” Hen threatens.
“Bobby vetoed murder after Ravi and Buck got into that fight about sparrows,” Chimney interjects.
“No, I’m bringing it back.”
“Understood,” Chimney nods, and Eddie suppresses rolling his eyes at them, but only because he gets distracted when Buck turns to him, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, clipboard in hand with a pen in the other.
“Eddie! I accidentally started filling in your form. Here, you can have this one,” Buck passes it over and Eddie scans it, seeing how Buck wrote all his details perfectly. They share an address now, and Eddie grins down at the line, 4995 South Bedford Street, the place where their lives overlap and cross over and mesh as one. Where they share a bed and wake up tangled and laugh about it, and Eddie wants to cross that line, wants so much, wants to shake Buck and yell how he feels and he doesn’t know how much longer he’ll be able to keep it all in.

Summary
He stepped out almost instantly, closing the door as quietly as possible in an attempt to not scare anything away. Concrete hit his knees as he carefully pressed his body against the sidewalk, using the daylight as an advantage to see under his truck.
As expected, a small, shaking ball of fur sat in front of his back wheel, its paws dug under its belly in hopes to find some warmth. Eddie’s heart shattered into a million pieces for the second time today. The shards already broken collapsed into even smaller pieces.
Eddie made a calling noise with his tongue, rapid tuts in an attempt to capture the cat's attention. Luckily, a response came quickly with its head whipping round in a hurried action, piercing green eyes meeting his own.
If Eddie had to pin an emotion to the eyes, he’d say scared, but he couldn’t ignore the sense of loneliness hidden behind the fear; something he’d become far too familiar with recently.
•••
Eddie moves to Texas, adopts a cat and "accidentally" names it after his best friend—who he misses in a totally platonic way, whilst trying to rebuild his relationship with his son.

Summary
"You look exactly the same," Eddie says with tears in his eyes. "How is that even possible?"
"I don't know," Buck says, his thumb swiping across Eddie's knuckles. "I don't understand it."
He may be the same, but looking at Eddie, Buck can see the years on him. His hair is a bit different, the creases by the corners of his eyes just a bit deeper. There's a new scar on his right hand that Buck hasn't seen before. He'd know these hands blind, but it takes him a moment to notice it still. His fingers brush over it once, and then again before he actually looks down and sees the thin golden band wrapped around Eddie's ring finger. Then he just—stares at it, stupidly, for a second. Before Eddie pulls his hands back, and leaves Buck's hanging empty in the space between them.
"You're married," he says.

Summary
It had started in the bathroom. Just a spot near the sink. Then the ceiling. Then the trim. Now it was creeping down the hallway like something living. And in the middle of it, Eddie was unraveling. Pale. Shaking. His shirt clinging damp to his frame.
“Jesus Christ,” Buck whispered. His voice cracked open on the second word. “Eddie, what the fuck—what the fuck are you doing? You look like you’re dying.”
“I’m okay,” Eddie whispered, barely audible.
“You’re not okay!” Buck shouted. The words snapped across the connection so loud that Eddie flinched. Buck exhaled fast, pulled back, but his voice was still shaking. “You can’t even keep your eyes open. I don’t think you’ve eaten. You can’t breathe, Eddie. You sound like your lungs are full of mold.”

Or: Eddie is alone in Texas, scrubbing mold from the walls as the house crumbles and his grip on reality slips. Buck tries, from hundreds of miles away, to pull him back. (This is part of a collection of standalone stories where the houses are never just houses.)

~Or~
Chris is fourteen and heavily traumatized. When he's confronted with yet another drastic shift in his family, he acts like it. He's insecure, he's full of doubt, and he can't seem to wrap his head around why Buck showed up at all.
~~
"How did you do that?"
"Open the door?" Chris asked back, as if it was the stupidest question he ever heard.
"I thought it was locked," Buck said.
Chris raised his eyebrow and held up the key in his hand, balanced his weight on one single crutch while he did so, "You don't have a key?"
"Uh," Buck cleared his throat, a little embarrassed, "N-no."

“Without you,” Clarke murmurs when Bellamy pulls away slightly to press their foreheads together, “I would have started a war.”
“I know. And do you know what I would have done when I walked into it?”
"What?”
“I would have helped you fight it,” Bellamy whispers. “But that's another life. In this one, we don't fight. We keep being us, and we do better. Someone wise told me that, and she was right.”
“If only she could take her own advice,” Clarke says, swallowing thickly.
Bellamy smiles at her. “She's got me for that.”

Summary
Dean Winchester lived a contented life in Erzla Cove, Rhode Island, running the family store. He had good friends, the best little brother, and a niece that he adored. The only thing missing was someone to share it with.
Castiel Novak had been through much over the years: the loss of his father, the incarceration of his brother, and subsequent guardianship of his nephew Jack, to name a few. Another loss that had affected him profoundly was that of his childhood best friend, Dean Winchester: The one who got away.
But now Castiel was hoping to change that.
Spending summers with his father in Erzla Cove as a teenager had been the only time Castiel felt truly at home, and he wanted that for Jack. Taking his late father's advice, Castiel packed up their life and moved to the small coastal town that held much of his heart, hoping to reconnect with old friends and have a second chance at love.- Language:

Summary
For some reason, everyone’s much more chill about Buck hooking up with Tommy than they are about him dating Rafa, which given all the drama around not letting Buck message Tommy when they broke up seems kind of fucked up. Rafa’s a genuinely nice guy, and they’re taking it pretty slow because of Chance, so it’s not like he’s rushing into a serious relationship for once.
“I’m not saying he’s not nice,” says Hen exasperatedly.
Chim exchanges a look with her before saying, “Honestly him being nice is kind of the problem.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” asks Buck, righteously outraged.
