Summary
On a porch, in the dark, somewhere in Broken Bow, Nebraska, on a random autumn Saturday, Robby brings his cigarette to Dennis' lips, as if it is the easiest thing in the world. But there is so much more to this one act of kindness, in the way his fingers brush against Dennis' lips, the way Dennis looks up at him through his lashes, eyes wide on his parents' porch. Dennis fears he might lose the family that raised him, but he isn't as scared, if it means he might gain a new one.
After Dennis' parents find out that he is trans and has been transitioning ever since leaving for medical school, Dr. Robby offers to drive him home to his parents, to do damage control.

Summary
Robby has gone from barely being able to watch to not wanting to even blink. He can’t keep his eyes from darting down to where Whitaker’s thighs grip the saddle, how he slides forwards on it with every downward bow of the bull and back as it pushes up. Again and again and again, he rolls with the mechanical bull with a single circular fluid motion.
It crosses his mind that this might be one of the hottest things he’s ever seen. He doesn’t even try to unpack that thought, it doesn’t even feel like an opinion he can change. It’s just a fact. Whitaker on the mechanical bull is one of the hottest things he’s ever seen.

It’s Javadi’s twenty-first birthday party and the Pitt team hit the cowboy themed bar downtown. Whitaker gets on the mechanical bull.

Summary
As Robby lifts his shirt up, Dennis is overcome with the need to bury his face in his armpit until he passes out. The gold chain with its Star of David that he always wears rests just below his collar. As Robby strips off, Dennis allows himself a longing look.
Yeah, Dennis admits to himself, he’s down pretty bad.
He’s certain that the fishing trips his brothers took with their dad didn’t have this additional complication – that of the man taking them being so hot they’d want to cry. Trinity’s comment, ‘daddy wants to take you to the woodshed,’ bounces around in Dennis’s head.

Summary
After a couple drinks, Dennis sees a whole new side of Robby, and himself too.
“You like this. You want it rough.”
It’s not a question, but Robby is nevertheless looking for permission. Dennis knows this, knows he’s not drunk enough to not give a damn. “I like it like this,” he answers tightly, watching the motion of Robby’s beautiful forearm, exquisitely articulated wrist, as it rises and falls with the greedy grinding of his palm. “I never asked, but… yeah.”
Robby clucks his tongue. “Oh, baby boy,” he says. “You should’ve asked.”
