Summary
Illario loved being able to use blood magic. It made things so much easier. Things like drawing the woman he was obsessed with from her companions so he could speak with her, getting her into his room so they could talk without interruptions from his cousin. It didn't matter that he could only get the compulsion of his blood magic to last for a finite amount of time. An hour was all he needed, it would give him the time to get her away from everyone else.
And then, after some drinks she would see reason even without the blood magic.
He never thought for a second that his blood magic would last beyond the first drink.

His voice wrapped around her. Each syllable hooked her, pulling her to an edge she dared not name. It wasn't just the words; it was the way he spoke them, like each one carried an unspoken promise. His words felt like a lover's fingertips trailing up her spine. The way he lingered on certain phrases—on love, on possession—made her breath grow shallow.
Maker help her, she wanted to be held like that. With the same unyielding devotion, the same brutal reverence.

At the start, you enjoyed the gossip like anyone else, but you truly never thought you’d end up being part of it.
You had three problems who just so happen to take the form of men.
Viago, Illario, and Lucanis.
You and Viago had…a past you could say, one that was heated and entirely physical, in the beginning at least. Illario was nothing more than a coworker of yours, that was until you had rescued Lucanis from the ossuary. Suddenly, the man was all over you whenever you were in Treviso, and he and Viago gave you plenty of reasons to be there.
Then there was Lucanis, someone you were instantly drawn to when you saw him, but you tried to keep it at that. But, Lucanis seemed to notice Illario noticing him, and was spurred on by some strange competition they seemed to have.
