Buck’s face starts to feel a little hot. He always gets a little flustered when Eddie immediately jumps to his defense, even if it’s just on Roblox.

“Buck?” Ravi asks, leaning in closer.
“Yeah?” Buck, the human man, replies.
“No, Buck,” Hen grabs the photo from Chim’s hand and holds it out for everyone to see.
Buck, the 1.5x2” passport photo from 2019, stares back at them.
“Oh damn.”
Eddie smiles, he’s glad Buck isn’t too freaked out by it.
(Buck is freaking out. The only people who have seen this photo, to his knowledge, are the post office employee that took it, and whatever person who approved it in the Department of State. Not even a TSA agent. He hasn’t gotten the chance to use it.)
Or, Eddie breaks his phone, reveals the photo he's kept of Buck inside the case for years, and suddenly everyone starts giving him their own photos. Buck is only a little bothered by it.

And then, he finds out about the bet.
He doesn’t mean too but someone leaves the box full of money on the island, with the list of bets sticking out and Eddie sees his name on it so he feels it’s fair game. Slips the paper out and smiles at the first few bets on the list, all about whos going to ask who out first, Buck or Eddie, when they’ve been together almost three years now and then-
“Thirty on Buck messing it up first.” He reads aloud. The laughter stopping abruptly. Athena and Maddie are here too, probably for lunch considering the bags of takeout he hadn’t noticed them place on the table as he read the list. “Forty-five on Buck cheating in the first month.”

OR the team make a bet about Buck and Eddie getting together not knowing they are together the whole time, they find it and it does not go well.

“Buck!” Eddie was already moving.
Oxygen tank forgotten at Bobby’s feet, turnout coat already halfway off because he needed the range of motion to check on Buck. The world tunneled—sirens, voices, the puff of dust off every bootfall—down to one point: Buck’s face up close, eyes too bright, lashes caked with grit. “Hey. Hey, look at me.”
Buck tried.
He blinked slow, mouth parted, a smear of soot curving up his cheekbone. His lips were almost colorless under the dust.
“Eddie,” he managed, voice frayed into a rasp. “M’good.”
“Yeah? Prove it.”
Eddie’s palm found the back of Buck’s turnout, guided him sideways to the tailboard of the engine. “Sit down.”_____________
Buck's caught right in the middle of a structural collapse and when he stumbles out, well, Eddie has to make sure he's actually okay.

Which is why it was weird when Shannon showed up to the farmers market on a day he would never forget. She’d handed Christopher to him and sat his bag down on the ground in the stall and told Buck she’d be back, needing to talk to Chris’s grandparents and she didn’t want Chris there for it. Which was fine with Buck, he knew that their relationship was a little rocky.
That they were her husband's parents, her husband that was deployed overseas. So he didn’t really ask any questions.
But then Shannon had not come back.
