    Summary

For ten thousand years, humanity had studied the Holy War. The Imperium did not die in a single battle. Instead, it died one choice at a time. Through recovered journals, private letters, and forgotten recordings, historians reconstructed the closing years of House Atreides and House Harkonnen as the galaxy once knew them as. The dead were counted. The battlefields were mapped. The fall of the Corrino Dynasty was documented. Those records also reveal that the Holy War began long before the first atomic fire. It had begun with the Imperium’s attempt to prevent the birth of the one destined to change humanity forever but one question remains unanswered. How did Paul Muad’Dib and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen become remembered as both the architects of the Age of Atomics and the Pioneers of the Golden Path? The following is that story.

    Summary

“Try looking into that place where you dare not look! You'll find me there, staring out at you!”

    ― Frank Herbert, Dune

After Baron Vladimir Harkonnen’s death and Rabban’s failed coup, Feyd-Rautha rescues Princess Wensicia Corrino and is rewarded by the Emperor with the promise of a marriage.

Everyone expects him to ask for an Imperial bride.

    Feyd asks for Paul Atreides.

Paul arrives on Giedi Prime as an unwilling omega consort, accompanied by a retinue worthy of the heir of a Great House: soldiers, servants, physicians, scribes, artists, spies, and loyalists from Caladan. Feyd allows all of them.

    On one condition.

Every unmarried or widowed adult who remains with Paul must accept matrimonial integration with native Harkonnens.

Paul expected Feyd-Rautha to be the monster he would have to survive. Instead, Feyd is clever, possessive, attentive, dangerous, and far easier to understand than the world that made him.

Because on Giedi Prime, marriage is not the end of negotiation.

It is how a House begins.

    Summary

“I succumbed to the lure of the oracle, he thought.
And he sensed that succumbing to this lure might be to fix himself upon a single-track life. Could it be, he wondered, that the oracle didn't tell the future? Could it be that the oracle made the future?”
    ― Frank Herbert, Dune Messiah

Ten years after losing Paul Atreides to Giedi Prime, Duke Leto accepts the invitation he never expected to receive: to attend the Hraknir of the children of Paul and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.
He expected to find a prison. A hostage. Perhaps a broken son, perhaps a forced consort, perhaps children raised by the enemy and still young enough to be saved in some way.
But Giedi Prime is not merely a prison. Paul is not merely a hostage. Feyd-Rautha is not merely the monster Caladan remembers. And their children are not merely Harkonnen children dressed for a barbaric rite.
Among artificial gardens, blood rites, games of power, Meishu protocols, five complete Kwisatz Haderachs, and a family too impossible to reduce to scandal, the Atreides discover that ten years preserve no one intact.
    Paul lived.
Feyd built a house around him.
