    Lan Zhan doesn’t think about him anymore.

    The days when he would obsess over every tiny work Wei Ying appeared in are long gone. His days of buying every magazine he was in, of taping his interviews and watching them over and over again just to get a piece of the real him, they’re all over. Lan Zhan doesn’t follow every project Wei Ying is a part of anymore, doesn’t try to find out if Wei Ying ever mentioned him anywhere, and doesn’t keep the TV on just in case he hears Wei Ying’s voice in a new commercial.

    He has weeks, and even months, when Wei Ying doesn’t even cross his mind at all. And when he does, it is only with a faded kind of fondness, a simmering affection to the memories they shared together.

    He’s happy for the things Wei Ying achieved. There is almost no hurt at all, almost no pain. And almost must be just as good as none.

    Lan Zhan's world is turned upside down when his High School love, famous actor Wei Wuxian, comes back to their hometown after 13 years.

    "Dream?" George called, his voice thin and frail as he knocked against the door nervously, "Dream, can I come in?"

    No reply. Worry ebbed at George. His best friend hadn't spoken in hours, locking himself up in his room. Given, it'd only been a few days since Hestia passed, but this much silence from the green boy didn't make sense. Faintly, he could make out breathing, almost hyperventilating.

    To his horror, he found his best friend slumped on the floor, a blade in his hand. The blade was littered with blood, and small cuts surrounded his wrists, dripping with blood. A squeak of surprise grasped its way out of his mouth. "Dream, what did you…"

    Was he going to kiss Lan Wangji? Had he actually leaned in, ready to capture his beautiful lips? Wei Wuxian presses a fist into the middle of his forehead and growls. He is supposed to be pretending to seduce him, not seducing him for real. Wei Wuxian takes the suddenly dire want to taste the inside of Lan Wangji’s mouth, folds it up with the image of the reddened tips of his ears, and buries it deep, deep down where he will not have to think about it. He can examine that when he has the time. And the emotional capacity. Maybe in a few years.

    Or:

    Wei Wuxian returns after disappearing for a decade and realizes through a series of increasingly embarrassing events that he is in love with his best friend.

    Our huli jing stands proud and tall in his dark, loose robes, frolicking about a public space with his well-sculpted chest fully out, pecs protruding thickly with sun-kissed skin over carved, toned muscles. What an outrageous sight, Lan Zhan thinks! How indecent, how shameless, and far too obscene for this world!

    “Excuse me,” Lan Zhan immediately goes to the fox spirit, all stiff-lipped, offering up the very cloak on his shoulders. “You must be cold.”

    Lan Zhan can’t have the fox walking around seducing everyone in sight just like this, no. For he has long already decided—that this huli jing is his!

    Or, baby dragon Lan Wangji imprints on the first beautiful huli jing he meets.
