Summary
It’s been a weird half-decade for Steven and Connie. They’d spent a lot of time apart, giving each other space. They’d still been best friends and best couple, certainly! (Well, Connie had a new girlfriend, so now they were in a “V” triad, actually.) But then Steven left the galaxy for the last 2 of those 5 years. Still, all that distance, that space, it hadn’t been the end of their relationship, or even a particularly hard part. And this is the story of their reunion: about how Steven came back to earth to move into the home Connie and her partner Lilith had bought not long before he’d left. About how the two of them had had a lot to talk about, but tried to rush past a lot of it. About how that backfired on them and got them in a body-swapping situation, forcing them to confront overdue conversations: finally beginning to open up about Steven’s gender, about Connie’s fear and obsession w/ fusion, and about the nature of Steven’s “being a fusion all the time” as his gem and human half. And then, just when they thought they’d made some progress, and they try to swap back, something entirely new happens. . .

A story of a young girl suddenly finding herself in transition, and the world that has to transition with her.

Really more of a character-building exercise and dialogue than a full narrative. But I imagine some of you will enjoy. Takes place immediately after Connie walks off with her mother near the end of SU:F ep 14 Growing Pains.
‘Connie *wanted* to talk to Steven about the proposal, but she knew that he was falling apart [though even she doesn’t realize how bad yet], so she just did her best to let him down easy. But she’d hidden – from Steven, even a little bit from herself – her temptation to immediately say yes to him. To start that very moment. To form Stevonnie and never look back. So she realized that this desire was something she’d have to confront.
But instead of, like, talking about it and examining it non-judgmentally, she pathologized it and felt a lot of guilt instead.
But now, given an opportunity to unload onto her mother, Connie takes the chance to talk about everything. All of it:, first about the proposal, and then about basically every harmful thing that’s happened to her, from the moment she and Steven met all the way through the proposal and everything in between, including Priyanka talking some about what it was like to make the parenting decisions she did.’

Just your typical boy-meets-gestalt-entity story. One night between two strangers that turned into a second night, and then ended up being a little more than either had bargained for. Set 9-ish years after Steven Universe: Future, in a timeline where Steven has transitioned and changed names, and Connie is vaguely agender, and the two of them are polyamorous. Just a quick little story that popped into my head while I was working on something else. NSFW, some light drinking, penetrative sex, oral sex, p vanilla. 18+. (cw: sex, deception, transphobia reference.)
