But the thing about magic, mate, is that it has a price. It always has a price and there is no one else to pay it, but him. The only thing you can ask, or rather, beg for, is that it leaves you with just enough to stand up and heal.

Summary
What if Danny never learned the early lessons he was supposed to? What if he actually took Vlad's offer of training?
In this retelling of Danny Phantom, the canon beats of ghost fighting, school life, and family balancing exist in a new context: Friends and family become obstacles, powers turn to tools, and Vlad carefully reshapes Danny’s worldview. Familiar faces clash with new foes, an ancient predator sets its sights on a fresh hunt, and Danny's path is shaded just a few degrees darker.
This story contains darker themes than the original Danny Phantom but attempts to remain PG-13 and roughly in-theme with the canon vibe. It will be completely SFW and will attempt to limit swearing. However, it does take itself more seriously than the show did. To that end, some of the slapstick humor and comic relief dialogue has been changed and toned down in favor of a more serious tone.
I am used to writing for a PG-16 or 18+ audience. I may slip into more emotionally mature themes on occasion.

Danny is a full-time ghost and a member of the JLA. One day, a girl comes up to him to give him something unexpected. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a grave to place it on. It's a good thing he still has those flower incense Sam gave him that he lit for himself.
Meanwhile, the Justice League accidentally learns the very old ghost of a teenager doesn't have a grave, and decides to take actions.…because flowers are for sick and dead, and he was never either.
