Summary
「いつだって君には私がいるから」
Iruka woke up one day and found himself confined underneath a crazy woman’s home, hidden within a dark, dingy crawlspace, with his hands tied to a rusty water pipe above him. Worst of all was the younger boy right next to him, suffering the same fate. He never thought of himself as the self-sacrificing type, but the moment Iruka looked into Naruto’s terrified eyes, something within him solidified, and he knew that he would do anything to keep this boy safe.
To get this boy home.
And so Iruka refused to let their situation corrode away his determination to protect and fight for Naruto, and kept his promise to always be there for him.
But getting free and keeping his word was only the beginning of everything, and Iruka would find that he was made of stronger stuff than he thought possible when faced with a world he no longer recognized. His life would change for the worst, then for the better, and at the end of a long road of recovery and struggle, Iruka would find that he was made of rhodium.
And within the hands of Hatake Kakashi, a man made of rhodium was far more precious than anyone could imagine.

Summary

It began with the sound of rattling bones, and would end with the rustling of the lion's mane.
After Iruka is saved by the mysterious family that lives within the Inari shrine he'd found sanctuary in, Iruka slowly but surely adjusts to this new life he'd been given, but is haunted by visions of a terrifyingly gentle Gashadokuro when he sleeps or daydreams. Hatake Kakashi, who is a family friend of the Uzumaki's and frequents the shrine, similarly haunts Iruka's waking hours.
As the years pass, and Iruka's first step into adulthood nears, he finds his heart reaching out for both man and beast. But every time he reaches out, those pale white bones, that soft silver hair, step out of reach, and Iruka knows it's out of hesitation and fear. The fear of a monster who is scared to love and be loved.
He's far from deterred, however, as he takes on the mantle of a lion and gives chase towards the man, the monster, that has captured his heart.

Summary
If you were to ask Iruka what scared him the most he wouldn't say revenants, or demons, or goblins and ghouls. He wouldn't even say it was the dark itself, and what the imagination could twist it into. No, what scared Iruka the most had a very real face, one that said it was his family but then locked him away like a dirty secret. He was absolutely desperate to get away from that face that was as unmoving as a Noh mask, but just as uncannily emotive and terrifying.
So when Iruka claws his way to freedom and runs for his life, the tragic irony of him being discovered by a literal monster of legend isn't lost on him. It was almost funny, how he escaped one monster to wind up found by another, but the joke fell flat when he lost consciousness in the oddly gently grasp of the beast, and woke up alive and well in an unfamiliar but welcoming room.
Iruka would come to learn that, sometimes, it's the actual monsters in the world that are the safest to be around, while those who hide amongst us humans were the ones to be truly feared.
And sometimes...sometimes falling in love didn't always start with seeing a beautiful face, or hearing a charming laugh.
Sometimes it began with the sound of rattling bones.

Summary
After the fight with Pain ends in ressurection, Naruto returns to his people to find that he, for the first time, is being celebrated by the people he had sought to protect. Iruka watches his boy go from the village outcast to their savior, their hero, and though he is overjoyed that Naruto is finally acknowledged by everyone...he can't help but wonder whether or not he still fits into Naruto's world.
But when a hero begins, it's not in the arms of strangers. It's in the arms of family.

Summary
The Road of Life normally was full of bumps and dips and riddled with potholes in the case of Hatake Kakashi, which was why he didn't have a problem using said road as his scapegoat more often than not when he was late to something; it never worked as an excuse, but he had to take his little pleasures somewhere, somehow. Then he finds himself drawn to one Umino Iruka, and without him even noticing, the path he's travelling down slowly but surely begins to smooth out, take less sharp turns, and becomes more of a pleasant stroll than a difficult hike. That doesn't mean there aren't moments where the road disappears beneath his feet and leaves him unmoored, lost, but Iruka's hand is always there to reach out to him and guide him back.
So perhaps it shouldn't have been so surprising that Kakashi would start to hunger for something more, not even realizing he was starving until he got a taste, but even he had his blind spots and Iruka occupied all of them.

Summary
With Naruto away training life for Umino Iruka had gotten quiet, but that quiet had been broken up periodically by the kindness of Hatake Kakashi, who discreetly delivered him letters from their mutual student whenever he got the chance. Which was great, amazingly thoughtful even, but the problem lay within the fact that it made Iruka's heart starved for more. For Kakashi. And so he kept a polite distance, didn't let on to feelings he had no right to have for someone as incredible as Hatake Kakashi. But the universe had a way of setting things right, of pushing people like Iruka, who deserved more than they gave themselves credit for.
Enter Senju Tsunade, Godaime Hokage of Konohagakure, and resident overly-stressed medical professional who could not take another second of Kakashi being a reckless idiot. She assigns the most caring man she knows to care for the most infuriating man, official mission scroll and everything, and calls it a day. And while Iruka takes the assignment (though whether it was willingly is up for debate) he can't help but wonder if he can survive a week in the company of the man his heart hungers for.

Summary
It was never supposed to happen. He was never supposed to be here.
Despite all the plans he concocted, all the contingencies he committed to memory, Bruce could have never been prepared for this. What had started out as a Christmas party he'd been tricked into attending, and a night where he'd believed the hardest thing he'd have to deal with was Shayera killing Wally over Mario Kart, turned into an abundance of moments where Clark backed him into a verbal corner and made his heart want things it couldn't have.
Oh yeah, and then there was the time travel.
An attack by renegade, sentient light later, and Batman found himself on Krypton. Then in Jor-El's custody. And that somehow segued into him becoming a baby Kal-El's nanny by day, a man desperately trying to save Krypton by night.
This was why Bruce Wayne hated Christmas.

Happiness was this nebulous, dreamlike thing that Simon wasn't as familiar with as he could be. It was something he could see out of the corner of his eye, could reach out and grab if only he didn't blink it away within the next breath, but that elusiveness didn't stop him from wanting it. From wanting it for Markus more than anyone. In order to ensure Markus got just that, for a whole week he conspired with Carl and Leo Manfred to give Markus the surprise of his life, and hoped that, in the end, it brought Markus the joy he so deserves.
Simon doesn't realize that he's deserving of it too, but Markus is there to show him the way.

Cue Tony hiding away in the workshop to make the perfect outfit for the occasion, with its silly half-cowl and low-cut neckline that should be illegal.

Summary
The holidays were not Saitama's favorite time of the year, but the one that took the cake was Christmas. Love was in the air and, for someone quite void of love like himself, it was suffocating to even leave the house and have to choke down the pheromones every couple he passed gave off like a bad odor. It didn't help that the halos everyone had, a colorful phenomenon born of love, were bright and happy and blinding the poor hero who just wanted to shop and go home.
Little did he know that, by the end of the exhausting day, he'd be even more obnoxious than anyone he'd had to endure, and it would be up to Genos to suffer through it.

Summary
If you'd told Genos that killing a sentient mountain of putrid, moaning grime would lead to holding Saitama in his arms after using his deceased mother's words to confess, he'd have...well, probably passed out from the mental image, but when he woke up you bet your ass he would have punched you.
When he realized much later it was the truth, you'd get a hug and a bouquet of flowers to make up for it though.

Summary
Genos didn’t dream much anymore, but when he did it went one of two ways. Either his subconscious traveled back to the moment where he lost everything, forcing him to relive the event in stark, ugly detail, to the point where he could still feel the dirt under his organic fingernails as he clawed his way across the burning terrain, seeking out his mother who he could hear wailing in agony from afar; he never reached her before he woke up, panting and shaking, thankful for the fact that he couldn’t sweat. Or his mind took a different, more bizarre route. One that didn’t make much sense, and more often than not didn’t force him to jolt awake, but instead made waking up rather difficult as he tried to wade through the after-effects of the dream.
He was quite certain he was delving into the latter at that very moment.
