Being near Lestat felt good. Lestat’s vulnerability captivated Louis in a way no other friend has made him feel. He could forget about the juxtapositions in his life for the hours they talked. Being with Lestat made him feel powerful. Being with Lestat made him feel bulletproof. And it didn’t have to be wrong to submerge in that feeling when his routine, his city, and his hustle felt so sinful. Lestat felt like Christmas when Mama, Grace, and Paul nullified their judgments on Louis’s dealings in Storyville and embraced him like family.

Over the next two and a half weeks, Jimmy tries every idea that seems even moderately excusable. He gets flour in his hair and complains to Thomas that his hands are full — Thomas simply sends him upstairs to get cleaned up as he managed to get it on his livery as well. He tries to convince Thomas he missed a spot during his trim, he claims he’s been bitten by some sort of bug and needs Thomas to check his scalp, and in a rather desperate ploy he even gets gum stuck in his hair and the most he gets for his trouble is an incredulous look — like Thomas is seriously rethinking Jimmy’s ability to tie his own shoes — and a bottle of olive oil for his troubles.
In the end —
In the end he can only think of one surefire way to get Thomas to put his hands in his hair and really pull. And so what if the thought of it also makes his mouth go hot and his belly tight? It’s just the prospect of finally getting what he wants that does it.
Thomas gives Jimmy a trim and Jimmy discovers he really gets off on the feeling of Thomas' tugging at his hair. In a completely platonic way, obviously.

Yes, the shame was particularly exquisite, knowing that he had hungered after one so pitiably young-looking. When he had pretended to be merely a coy, harmless manservant, giving Daniel playful looks across the room. Daniel had been disgusted with himself. He had been repulsed by the reactions of his filthy mind and aged flesh. It had been easier to remain passive-aggressive and strive for an annoyed face anytime the other spoke, than to avow that he secretly fantasised about bending him over and fucking him face-down like a whore.
