    Tommy sighs, settling into the covers of his bed. Why did he have to wake up this early? The Crafts probably haven’t even started anything yet.

    He just wants to sleep through it all, just so he doesn’t have to hear them have fun without him.

    He can hear the different voices of his foster family talking amongst themselves. Tommy can’t make out any details, but one sentence stands out, repeated many times.

    “Merry Christmas.”

    Tommy sinks further into the mattress and tries to ignore the loneliness threatening to consume him.

    For a foster kid like Tommy, Christmas is always a lonely time for him. He expects this year to be the same, but the Crafts have different plans
