Summary
Ava has lived at the small seaside town of Orange Coral Springs, Florida, her whole life. It’s a town with rules that need to be followed, but Ava has never really been good at following the rules without question. And the moment Beatrice arrived into her life four years ago, following those rules has become harder and harder to do every time her best friend looked her way. They have been dancing a dangerous dance on top of cracked ice and standing at the edge of a cliff and, after a loss of control, the ice breaks and their lives change to a point they don’t know if they will survive the fall.

Ava and Beatrice have finally graduated from Catholic School, and they have to choose between living their truth and damning the consequences, or choosing safety and dooming themselves to living in a cage the rest of their lives.

Beatrice shrugged. She should have been alarmed, trying her best to shake off whatever Ava was trying to find out, but she just...didn't. That alone should have set the bells ringing in her head.
She never felt this comfortable around strangers. Something about Ava's earnest curiosity was making her feel warm inside. She felt seen. Not as a warrior. Not as a nun. Not as anything. Just as her. Beatrice. A human being.
"I am just a nun."
Ava's smile was knowing though. Her voice grew impossibly lighter, "No one is ever just something. Don't sell yourself short."

Summary
Ava Silva, the freshman forward from scrappy Sudbury, Ontario, playing for the Superion College Warriors as the newest and shiniest first line center. Her humble background is impressive, to say the least. She knows how to score goals and there’s no other way to put it.
Beatrice is now in her third year of being the number one defender for not only the Cruciform University Saints, but also the entire college league. She has also been the number one defender for the national squad for three years and has two college championships under her belt, plus a World championship. Being from Brampton, Ontario, she has been surrounded by some of the best skaters in the world her entire life. She will undoubtedly be the true test for Silva, who has already managed to untie the skates of many defenders in the league.
