since she was a young girl, cheryl had been told over and over again by her incredibly depraved and psychotic mother that there was no one out there for her that would love her, that blossoms were made to suffer and suffer alone. and ever since she was a little girl, cheryl fought hard to rid those words from her mind, forcing herself to repeat the mantra over and over again:

The cold air is Toni's first greeting when she opens the screen door, followed by the sight of a slender girl with red hair smoking a cigarette on the rickety lawn chairs FP keeps out there for poker nights.
Then the girl looks up. Her lip is split. She has a black eye and a bruise on her cheek that looks suspiciously like it came from a slap.

Cheryl Blossom doesn't do the whole 'crush' thing. She doesn't like to fawn over others, doesn't like to feel like she's losing control of herself and her emotions. So, when she and Toni start hooking up (to relieve sexual tension of course, not at ALL because she LIKES Toni), she doesn't expect to lose that vital control over her feelings. Doesn't expect the warmth in her chest when she and Toni lay side by side on lazy mornings. And Toni? Well, Toni is just glad to finally break through those icy walls around Cheryl's heart.
