The man turned.
There was something wrong in the way his gaze passed over to Mydei.
The eyes that met his weren’t usual bright blue—they were the kind of hollow that carried old fire. Dimmed. Dying. But still dangerous in the way scars sometimes are, when you realize how deep they must’ve gone.
“…You’re…” Mydei’s voice thinned.
“I won’t be here for long,” the version of Phainon said.

Phainon dreams of meeting people he has known his whole life. One, however, escapes him. The flame chase journey may be over, but still, Phainon finds himself chasing something, someone, else entirely.

Phainon doesn’t know what to blame, exactly. He just knows that this feeling of failure likes to claw its way into his chest and dig deep. Sometimes it manages its way up his throat, into his vocal chords and out his mouth. He dreamt of seeing a beautiful sea, too beautiful to be real. A man, back turned, walking past the gates of Okhema to embrace his fate, to inherit Strife, to leave everyone behind in the name of the Flame-Chase Journey.He props a large canvas on his easel and he paints golden eyes and blonde hair, his brushstrokes filled with the red markings of painted-on tattoos; while his heart does its best to leap out of his chest, each stroke followed by shaking hands and the tears in his eyes he doesn’t quite shed.

He wanted to tell him that it's okay, that Mydeimos believed in him, that Mydeimos would never blame anything and everything that happened on Phainon. He would never blame Phainon. If anything, he was greatly heartbroken and mourned over the fact that Phainon had to shoulder such heavy weight on his shoulders. If Mydeimos had one wish and it could be granted, he would use it…
To hope that Phainon would never carry such a burden ever again and lived a happy life, free from all of this.
