And you’re done with the academy and your parents still haven’t reached out. Come ooooon, Eddie,” she finishes with a whine.
“No.”
“Eddie.”
“No!”
“Edmundo,” She pushes, purposefully over pronouncing the syllables of his name and he glares at her.
“I’m not taking part in a fucking mating run, Shan! Drop it.”
She rolls her eyes, finishing off her beer and then snatching his up and chugging that one as well.
“I’ll convince you,” she mutters, pretending to gag at the warm beer.
“No you won’t,” he laughs.

Summary
Eddie roves his eyes over Buck's form. The paleness of his skin, the starkness of his veins under. The way Buck's clothes are starting to hang a little loose on him, the way he never changes where anyone can see him anymore.
Buck just sighs and looks away, breathing measured. It makes Eddie all the more certain that he’s doing the right thing; if Buck really was okay, he would have had the energy to fight back.
It breaks something in Eddie. Almost as quickly as it rose, his anger burns away, leaving behind only pain and fear. He can't lose Buck. He can't.
Buck would do anything to protect Eddie. Even if it means keeping the truth hidden — right to an early grave.

“What do you want?” Buck whispers, his hand trailing down Eddie’s thigh, fingers grazing the sensitive skin at the juncture. “Tell me.”
Eddie’s head thuds back against the pillow, eyes screwed shut. “Just—fuck—untie me, man.”
Buck leans close, shaking his head slowly, eyes flicking between rosy cheeks and taut arms, savouring Eddie’s obvious strain against the ropes. “No,” he drags out the syllable, “that’s not it. What do you really want, Eddie? What’s got you so worked up?”
“Shit,” Eddie breathes out, more to the heavens than to Buck. “I want—want you to touch me.”
It starts, as most things do, with a late-night research spiral.

The entire apartment has been eggshells, lately. She can’t bring up anything meaningful in conversation without Harry’s jaw clenching, his eyes going hard and blank à la Athena Grant. Can’t talk about Mom, or Bobby. At least now she knows why he’s been pissy when she’d ask about school these past few months. Harry makes sure to steer clear of any discussion about their actual lives; May walks the line, dipping a toe into the murky waters sometimes just to see if he’ll still bite. He does, every time, and she backs off like a coward.
So it’s this— sitting on the couch with popcorn. Half invested in watching The Bachelor and half invested in watching Buck repeatedly frog a single line of navy blue crochet. Glancing at Harry every time something funny happens just to catch him smile. It’s pretending things are okay.
Or, May and Buck are at a loss with Harry's anger, and Eddie is more than happy to lend a hand. And a set of boxing gloves.
