    The Archipelago was a mystical place that cradled the world of dragons and the nordic gods, shielded by its own magic that hid its existence from mortals and rendered it separate from the rest of the world.

    In other words, it was the perfect place to disappear without a trace, and much like the rest of the Spirit world, a recently-defeated Pitch knew this very well.

    Jack was the newest Guardian and the only one whose responsibilities weren't all-consuming, so naturally he was the one tasked with the simple mission of following, stopping, and retrieving the weakened King of Nightmares who managed to escape into the Archipelago.

    And simple this mission was, until Jack did as he's always done- made a mess wherever he went.

    All he wanted to do was successfully track Pitch, lock him in a storm or a blizzard or some form of trap he couldn't escape from, and successfully get him back home and re-jailed.

    He didn't mean to trap a dragon and his rider instead. He certainly didn't mean to start a new religion in this 'Berk' place by saving them from his own doing.

    Hiccup meanwhile couldn't believe his luck. Only he could manage getting kidnapped and released by an actual god.

    When Hiccup made peace with the dragons and began to convince other tribes to do the same, there was a significant decrease of Fear in the Barbaric Archipelago.

    For Pitch Black, this won't do. However, he is far too busy dealing with those pesky Guardians. He sends his prized son, Jack Frost, to investigate. As long as Jack creates Fear, it doesn't matter what he does with his new toys.

    Eager to prove himself to his adopted father and savior, Jack travels to Berk – already planning the cruelest mischief and icy terrors to force the rebellious Vikings back into submission.

    But when he meets Hiccup… he could’ve never expected how difficult he is to scare.

    He might even be... Fun?

    (Or something entirely worse... something that digs up emotions that Jack believed long since dead and frozen.)

    AKA: An AU set in HTTYD era where Pitch Black found Jack Frost first and they rule over the Barbaric Archipelago as gods.

    But, as always, Hiccup finds a way to mess up all master plans 😆

    Jack doesn't understand his episodes, those little moments where he swears he catches a glimpse of another life. The in-between, stuck knowing no matter how many questions he might have that an answer will never come.

    It's kind of hard to stay mad for long, though, when his boyfriend is off getting himself killed trying to dismantle a new dragon hunter group. He can't help but tag along.

    Jack was ready. He was prepared even. Heck, he'd agreed to sacrifice his life for that of Hiccup's and the rest of Berk. He never anticipated waking up again, least of all in his own time. Yet, there was no denying he was back and at this point, Jack was unfazed at the regular reoccurrence of waking up at all when he shouldn't have. At least, this time he would get to say his goodbyes to those he cared about before fading from existence and with the remaining time he had, Jack Frost would do all to ensure the Taliesin Clan lived on through the Seven Brightest Lights and through them, his memories of Berk and the Dragon Riders would survive as well. He appreciated the Big Four's concern and attempts to stop him from fading but he was not about to shy away from the consequences of his decision. Jack was ready.

    But when has Jackson Overland's—or, for that matter Jack Frost's—life ever been that normal?
