    That’s what he had to keep reminding himself as Sonic went kicking into hibernation.
 His only other comfort, besides a cozy burrow hidden away from the prying world, was the favor he’d asked of his long-time rival, Shadow.
 With that hybrid genetics and Chaos in his veins, Shadow wouldn’t need to bed down for the winter storm of the century.

    Just three months without the blue hedgehog. That was it.

    Shadow only managed two weeks before he went to check on him.

    Sonic blinked a few times to clear his vision, his mind still reeling both from the impact and from the confusion of what the hell just happened. When his vision cleared, he stared in disbelief at the face in front of him. The face of the person that he'd punched into the moon. The person who had helped him save the world. The person who had tried to kill Tom. The person who he hadn't been able to stop thinking about for days. The person who was for some reason attacking him? "Shadow?" Sonic asked shakily. "You're alive?" A brief look of confusion flashed across Shadow's face for just a moment before he returned to his usual angry expression, accompanied by a few sparks of his signature red lightning.

    "Who are you? How do you know my name?"

    --- Post-Sonic 3: Shadow falls to Earth after the explosion and loses all of his memory, except for memories of a certain blue hedgehog we all know and love :))
