“Suo-san,” Nirei’s voice quivered. “Suo-san, who…who did that to you?” He brought a hand up to his own neck, shakingly touching it to demonstrate what he was referring to.
For a split second, something else passed through Suo’s gaze. Surprise? Or maybe…fear?
Suo quickly straightened himself, taking a step back as he fixed his scarf back into place, covering his neck once again. His gaze drifted to the side, staring down at the ground as if it had personally insulted him. “I told you, Nire-kun.” There was a trace of dismissive anger in his voice. “It pisses me off, the way you question every detail.” His lone eye shifted to peer down at Nirei, that cold glare returned again. But there was something more to it this time, something hiding under the surface.

Summary
Everyone kept talking to Suo – and Kiryu couldn’t even blame them. It was Suo’s birthday, after all. But still. He just wanted to talk to Suo, just Suo, and get all these thoughts and feelings out of his system for once. He had to do something about the way his heart felt like it might explode out of his chest when Suo spoke to him, the way his stomach tingled with the fluttering wings of butterflies at the thought his feelings might be reciprocated, the way the breath was often stolen from his lungs every time their eyes met.
He couldn’t keep dancing around Suo, wondering if there really was something there every time they exchanged words or glances, or if he was being too hopeful and had been imagining things all along.

Of course, things can’t be easy. They never were before and it seems that the one consistency with Suo Hayato is he’s a bastard that does what ever he wants.

or, suo hates that he can't figure out kiryu - until the day at the beach. kiryu gives him an opening and suo can't help but take advantage of it.

There’s a new person in town and all the whispered gossip around town speaks of them like a prodigal son returned. Fond eyes above murmuring mouths that say things like took over the old lady Matsumoto’s flower shop or wonder if that group of Furin boys knows. It makes Mitsuki’s skin stretch across his shoulders and knuckles in ways that itch, that hurt. A roll of his shoulders, the hum of a catchy tune on his lips, and the day goes on. It’s time to open the parlor.
Three hours in, one and a half pieces down, and his phone vibrates on the counter. Mitsuki ignores it, even though it proceeds to go off several more times. When he gets to his phone forty five minutes later, there’s a plethora of notifications. There always is, if he’s honest. It’s a pair of messages from a certain nosy bottle blonde that catches and holds his attention - that hits the damn holding back all the thoughts, questions, and memories he’s been holding off on since he first overheard the news.
