Summary

The first thing Lucy Chen sees when she opens her eyes is the police badge...The second thing that catches Lucy’s eye are his hands, which, once he brings them back together, are clasped so tightly that his knuckles press white through sun-tanned skin. His hands are broad, and he is sitting close enough that she can see small scars crisscrossing the backs of them here and there, close enough that she can see the way the light catches the light hair on his muscular forearms, propped against his knees. The light catches the hair on his head, too, which seems dirty blonde, maybe light brown if not in this lighting, but he is, and so his head is haloed in gold. The overall effect is one of gilding; he looks like he is made of something precious... Whoever this man is, it seems he has been waiting here a while. Waiting on her. With a badge.
OR
Lucy get amnesia after an assault during a manhunt. She doesn't remember anything that's happened in the past five years...including joining the LAPD and meeting Tim. He remembers everything.

Lucy Chen didn’t plan on starting over, but after losing her husband and finding out she was pregnant in the same breath, staying in Chicago wasn’t an option. A new job at the LAPD is supposed to be a fresh start—except grief doesn’t care about distance, and raising a baby alone isn’t any easier just because the badge on her uniform has changed.
Tim Bradford isn’t interested in second chances. Between his job as a cop and raising his daughter alone after his wife left, life is full enough. He’s not looking for complications, and he definitely doesn’t have time for feelings.
But when their paths keep crossing at work, they start to realize that maybe moving forward doesn’t have to mean doing it alone.
