Summary
Ever since Pomni arrived in the circus, she thought that once she got out it would solve everything. It soon became clear, however, that that was not the case.
Almost immediately after Pomni is found in an abandoned building after leaving, she is admitted into a mental hospital. She is told over and over that the circus wasn't real once she confides in the ones she trusts. No one believes her when she says she was stuck there for months due to the fact she'd only been missing for a few days.
Slowly Pomni is convinced it really was something her mind had cooked up after passing out for whatever reason. And finally, after nearly a year in the hospital, Pomni gets her two week notice that she can leave and get back to her normal, busy life.
That's when a familiar sarcastic, apathetic voice burst though the mental hospitals’ front doors.
And he's screaming.

Summary
There are many ways to deal with the unpleasant emotions that can threaten to pull someone down into the darkest depths of their mind. One of the healthiest ways you can cope with those feelings is through social interaction. Being around the people you care about. Being cared for in return.
Pomni has that support structure. She has a wonderful family in the Amazing Digital Circus who will always be there to pull her out of the darkness and keep her from self isolation. But sometimes, it's not enough. Sometimes, even your closest friends can't light the way. Loss is tough to deal with, especially when you're not entirely sure what you lost in the first place.
Social coping mechanisms aren't always healthy. Sometimes, they can threaten to deteriorate your psyche and spiral you further into the blackest void. It all depends on who you spend your time with. You need to make sure you find the right person to help you in your time of need.
Pomni is sinking. She is desperate to find that person. Desperate enough to do something that could threaten to pull her down even further.
And Caine is watching it happen.
Because he's convinced he can still fix everything.
