“I am unsure of what you mean by that question,” Mary replied after a pregnant pause, likely trying to discern whether the spike in his heart rate was from exertion, or panic, or some strange combination of the two happening together in tandem.
Pinching the bridge of his nose, he exhaled sharply with the hope to expel some of the lingering unease pooling in his gut. “Are you telling me we embarked on this mission without first ensuring everything was up to par? Or are you telling me Rover is simply that ill-equipped to handle the most basic of tasks that their accumulation has spiraled wildly out of control? Because I have to say, Mary. I’m not much liking the notion of either of those outcomes as it pertains to the next year plus we have together at the bare minimum.”
“I apologize if I have made it sound more dire than it is,” the AI said in that same soothing voice that had first walked him through the situation while he was still more or less delirious. “To answer more succinctly, neither and both of those things are inherently correct.”

Summary
When Grace wakes up on the Hail Mary, he tries everything he can to wake the only surviving crewmate from her coma. Nothing works until he meets Rocky.
Grace and Finch find themselves on the Hail Mary without their memories, but with one common goal: save the stars. Neither of them expect to find a home in Rocky, nor for their bond with him to bring them closer. As they learn more about themselves, their mission, and how they lost their memories, they quickly realize that neither of them are equipped to deal with the growing comfort they find in each other.
Rocky decides he’s done watching them dance around it and takes matters into his own very exasperated hands.

Grace, Rocky, and Adrian spend an afternoon fishing in the biosphere. The water’s looking nice, and the miscellaneous Eridian wildlife (that Adrian painstakingly genetically modified and selectively bred to survive in a highly oxygenated, extremely low pressure, cold as hell environment) is practically biting at the hooks (that aren’t really hooks) already.

Summary
Inside the singular cabin of the submarine, a light flickered and buzzed faintly. It was all red. Tendrils of tendons sloped over the walls and hung from the ceiling, obscuring the entrance Grace had cut. Dark blisters pulsed against the metal like beating hearts. It was some unholy fusion of flesh and machine that made Grace's stomach churn.
It took a moment for Grace to find his voice.
"OH MY GOD!" He shouted. "WHAT THE FUDGING FUDGE! OH MY GOD! ROCKY! ROCKY CUT IT LOOSE I DON'T WANT IT I DON'T WANT IT!" He wailed.Finding a rust bucket of a submarine floating in space was not the interruption Grace expected to run into on the trip to Erid, and now he's totally going to have a horrible melty painful death.
