Tails was leaving, and Sonic couldn't be any prouder. He knows his little partner will do great, and he'll always be proud of him. He'll always be thinking of him.
"It's going to take some getting used to, but here's to you reaching new heights, partner." he had told him back on Starfall.
But as the weeks go on, Sonic doesn't get used to it. Not at all. And when he finally admits that to himself, it all comes crashing down.

Summary
If they came across the past, it was only logical they would encounter the future as well. And maybe, in the face of a future where he would lose his own self, Sonic would finally wake up to error of his reckless, cocky, so-called 'freedom'. Or so Shadow thought.
