Summary
A man who had learned, with careful and deliberate cruelty, how to kill his own voice- not by force alone, but by repetition, by discipline, by the slow erosion of every question he once dared to hold.
A voice not torn from him, but buried by his own hand, layer by layer, until silence felt like virtue, and obedience like peace.
And then. He meets something that does not believe in graves. Something that lingers where silence settles too neatly. Something that listens, not for what is spoken, but for what is withheld.
It does not demand. It does not command.
It waits.
It presses at the seams of his composure, unravels the careful stillness he mistook for control, and calls forth the remnants of a voice he swore had long since died.
Not to restore him gently. Not to save him. But to remind him, that what is buried does not forget the shape of breath, and what is silenced does not remain so without consequence.
Or...
A man who killed his own voice, meeting something that refuses to let it stay dead.
