Summary
A rewrite of the original fanfic by the same name, https://archiveofourown.org/works/56018794/chapters/142275616. The fanfiction had been written prior to the events or before Tangled the series had started, therefore why the fanfic explores Marcellus, Quirin and Varian. The story starts when Quirin finds out about a male named Marcellus who was abused by his parents, and later told that he was abused by the orphanage by the king and queen after he took Marcellus to get adopted by him. This is where Marcellus stays with Quirin and Varian as part of their family in Old Corona, and that's where the story begins with Marcellus's journey through "recovery".

Summary
The fanfiction was written before Tangled the series had started hence why the fanfiction only delves into Marcellus, Quirin and Varian. Summary
Jack Desmond, a normal cartoon office worker, lives a life of peace in the Toon Genre when he stumbles upon a wounded stranger in a dark alleyway and, against his better judgment, brings him home. Gavriel Huffman, a scary mobster boss from the Grim Genre, awakens patched up in an unknown apartment, finding himself being taken care of by a nervous yet earnest cartoon man.
As the Grim man begrudgingly accepts the Toon's help, the two strangers learn to coexist under one roof and shenanigans ensue as Gavriel's sudden appearance is met with suspicion by people in Jack's life.

After a night out causes Rapunzel's hair and Varian's powers to return, the lost princess and her new brother have adventures while adjusting to life and each other with their friends as they try to solve the mysteries of the Sundrop and Moonstone.

Camilo had never found his constant thoughts of death strange.
If anything, they felt natural—part of the rhythm of life. Not that he’d ever mention that out loud of course. The cycle of life and all that, sure, but he’d often let his mind wander to different scenarios, imagining all the ways it could end. Sometimes, even thinking of ways to do it himself. Not that he ever would. He wasn’t suicidal. Not really. Just a little curious and intrigued, more than he should be.
