Summary
It had been a long and difficult 27 years since the Hail Mary had launched. Not as terrible as it could have been, but not easy. Humanity had survived and adapted, as it always did. There had been terrible wars. There had been incredible acts of kindness. There had been massive scientific breakthroughs. And now, there were two distant blips of Petrova-light, picked up by the Deep Space Network, hurtling home. Two probes, braking hard as they hurtled toward Earth holding the secrets to its salvation. They were late, or at least, not very early, but they were here.
Grace may have made his peace with dying to save Rocky, but Rocky insists they return to Earth.

“Are you guys sure that’s not the Hail Mary? It’s still orbiting Erid even though I’m not going home, remember?”
Rocky stomps again and lets out another noise. Right, stupid. Of course they can tell the difference.“We checked that. Hail Mary still in orbit. This spaceship is just outside but will eventually be pulled in. You are sure Earth sends nothing else?”
“What? How would I know, Rocky? It’s been decades since I left; maybe they did send it. They know about Erid, we talked about it in the videos sent to Earth, remember?”
Rocky rocks back and forth contemplating the answer. Grace can’t tell if he’s happy with the answer or not. It seems Rocky might’ve come to interrogate Ryland on behalf of the thrum.
“Rocky is this a sting. Are you undercover right now?”
or how Major Roy McBride finds himself instead of returned to Earth, on an alien planet 16.26 light years away. But he's in luck there's another human! and some strange things are going on.

Summary
Immersive Fic! Grace comes across a video he never thought he'd see and needs Rocky's support. He learns where his St Christopher's charm came from.
Grace has told Rocky that there is a complete imprint of the human’s internet available on the Hail Mary. He had assumed it was captured before he left Earth but was wrong; the capture was made on the very last day as the crew transferred from the ISS to the Hail Mary. They wanted them to have the last possible version, the most up-to-date information. It has never occurred to Grace that this would be here.
