Summary
Simon wiggles his toes and tries to sit up. There is a quilt covering his legs, but that doesn't matter because in that moment he notices something more important; his hand is tied to the bed frame with a zip tie.
His breathing picks up, and the sheer panic that encompasses him almost makes him lay back down. His head is spinning, and he knows that he needs to calm down so he can function enough to find something sharp or dislocate one of his fingers, but he can't.
Goosebumps arise on the surface of his skin and only now he realizes that he's completely bare, the quilt doesn't even reach to cover his crotch and as Simon shifts his hips and parts his thighs a little during the struggle the cold air flickers across his warm exposed pussy.
He hisses at the feeling, he's strangely wet down there and he can't tell if it's because of sweat or his own body playing tricks on him during the worst imaginable moment.
There is no way his brain conjured this shit.

Summary

Summary
A sob catches in his throat, and another wracks his whole body. He shakes with the weight of his own death.
The blood closes in on him. He secures the life jacket to the black box and asks his mother in the afterlife to keep it safe. He wonders if she did. He will never know.
Then, the blur clears from his vision. His tears are forgotten about if only for a moment.
He’s in a meadow, watched over by hundreds, if not thousands, of stars on a backdrop of painted clouds of dust incomprehensibly ancient. The Milky Way galaxy, come to look down on him from a cloudless night sky. A lone white moon sits full and bright as its pupil. A breeze catches his hair and his face with a nip of cold; a gentle touch that tells him do not worry. You are free now.

Simon wakes from death to an earthly forest. A month before, Ava finds herself in a junkyard, far from any civilization. When Simon finds her, they come to an agreement to cooperate for survival. Over time, they reconcile with their past. Then, they open up.
Still, they have questions. Namely, where are they? Why are they here? And what is that strange smoke in the distance?
