Summary
I found what I thought was a fine piece of wood and started to whittle away at it. Patroclus was better at this than I. I had meant for it to be a statue of him holding a bowl of figs instead it barely looked human. Chiron had laughed when I first showed it to him. My cheeks turned red and I threw the wood at him. The inhumane statue bounced harmlessly off his chest which drew an even deeper laugh from him.
It was the first time I had heard him laugh from his chest, “I believe Patroclus would still like it, but if you wish for me to show you I will.”
It took us a couple of months to whittle it into a shape that resembled him. It wasn’t nearly as lavish as I wished it to be, but it was enough to bring a grin to my face. It was enough to bring a grin on Patroclus' face as well.
“They can be together,” Patroclus said as he stood back to stare at the two statues.
“I hope they stay like that,” I added, “I hope they stay together.” I turned to look at him and neither of us had to say that we hoped the same for us.

Their manager, Brian Epstein, rejected him once before. Brian was now dead and Apple Corps was failing: so Klein immediately offers his services as a 'business savvy' manager. Paul doesn't trust him, but he was outvoted by John, George, and Ringo.
As their manager, Klein threatens and coerces Paul to sleep with him. The other Beatles think Paul has finally seen it their way, but they soon discover the awful truth.

Paul has always been sort of vaguely aware of the fact that he loves John, in the same way that he’s aware that John loves him, in the same way that he’s aware that it doesn’t matter. He knows that they can’t be together – they can’t be queer – so it’s not worth dwelling on, is it?
If he thinks about it too deliberately, it hurts. So he doesn’t think about it.
It would have been perfectly fine going on that way. He might have done it his entire life with ease, even. It would have been fine, it not for the fact that one day he just – forgets, for a moment. And he kisses him.
