After the fall of the Radiance the pale siblings are left with the responsibility of looking after what remains of Hallownest. But while investigating the failing seals on the edge of the kingdom something goes wrong. Separated, the siblings face a new host of problems. They need to find each other again. They need to find their way back to Hallownest. But with the waring nations of the land they find themselves in it might just be easier to solve that problem before moving onto their own.
The Gaang did not intend to adopt a strange masked child who may or may not be a spirit, but it's not like they could just leave them on their own. Besides, if they're already traveling to the North Pole they might just run into whoever the child is looking for on the way.

Summary
Klaus somehow, somehow, figures out how to manifest himself visibly, as some sort of shade passing as a living man, to talk a high-as-a-kite Luther into going home. He doesn’t touch Luther once, and his ghostly self feels a bit lightheaded, but he walks beside Luther until they’re back to the Academy and Luther has fallen asleep on the staircase.
“I’ll tell him I’m dead when he’s sober,” Klaus tells Ben. “I’ll do it.”
“Okay,” says Ben.
Klaus doesn’t.

"Didn't take you for the religious type," Wilbur speaks up, internally cringing at himself for speaking up at all. Ghostbur looks up, wide doe eyes turning to look up at him curiously.
And Wilbur, because his tongue is looser nowadays, dumbly speaks up.
"You know, considering-" Wilbur cuts himself off, gesturing vaguely towards the ghost.
Ghostbur's brows furrow, squinting over at Wilbur before turning back to the Shrine.
"... Considering what?" Ghostbur inquires, a genuine confusion that Wilbur is surprised that anyone but a child could pull off.

Wilbur was alive, and it was such a magnificent feeling, that made his mind spark with anticipation. It didn't take long, however, for Wilbur to realize that this new breath of life, was not just his own. An echo-y voice hides in the back of his mind, and before he knows it, the transparent version of him he saw at the endless train station, is a lot more ingrained than he'd expected him to be.
And Wilbur really shouldn't care. Because he'd be damned, if he spent the life he'd awaited for so long, babysitting a lost cause of a ghost, stuck in the very same limbo Wilbur spent so long in. It was an even exchange, and one Wilbur wasn't going to mess with.
Why exactly he ends up setting out to get the ghost out of his mind, in order to save the both of them, however, is beyond him. And perhaps Wilbur's past isn't as easy to leave behind, as he'd hoped it would be.- Language:
