[When Eddie leaves it’s not grandiose or dramatic. Eddie hugs him and Buck hugs him back, of course.
He hides his face in the curve of Eddie’s neck and breathes in the scent of him, of pinewood and soap.
Eddie’s fingers dig in his back, and he prays they might leave marks behind, scratch Eddie’s signature right into his skin, prays they might leave bruises on his very bones, let him keep Eddie right here, in his arms, forever.
But eventually, gone as all good things do, Eddie pulls back. He smiles, and his eyes are a storm, warm honey clouded with lightning and thunder, and the only thing Buck can do is smile back. He’s never been good at goodbyes, he should be used to them. He isn’t.

Summary
Ilsa pushes the front door open, arduously heavy, and finds Ethan wavering on the apartment steps outside.
“Ilsa.” His ridiculous sunshine smile lights up his face, like he’s surprised to run into her here.
She leans against the doorway, palm braced on the door to hold it open. “What do you want?”
He doesn’t look good. If he were anyone else she’d assume he was drunk, but the exhausted, strung-out look on his face is a sober one. He’d been wandering around London for a while, too, judging by his wet hair and the soaked shoulders of his jacket.
“I’m—is this a bad time?”
“Extraordinarily.”
Ethan’s problem is that he thinks he can just show up unannounced on her doorstep after disappearing for four months. Ilsa’s problem is that she invites him inside.

The question would not leave her alone and just became more and more intensified like a pressure cooker. She felt like her brain was inflating from the inside and not because of the pressurisation of the commercial airliner on which she was travelling. She felt the internal forces building and building, ready to break through and cause the most explosive of decompressions.
