Oscar is used to change - he experienced quite a bit of it when he moved from Australia to England to pursue his dressage career. Following his trainer to a new barn didn't seem like such a big deal, especially when he wasn't planning on doing much in terms of making new friends there.
He wasn't exactly planning on making any enemies either, but that hotheaded showjumper Lando has been getting on his nerves quite a bit.
And Lando? He can't quite understand why that somewhat-bland new dressage rider just insists on getting in his way everywhere he goes. Some nerve, that.

Summary
Oscar’s well aware that he’s got that tight clench in his chest again. That selfish, greedy clench that he knows is a bad, bad idea. A way to get his feelings hurt all over because Lando’s going to leave him like he always does, and Oscar will have to act normal in the next interview as if he didn’t just see Lando like this, as if Lando hasn’t fucked him up irreparably for anyone else.
And God knows what the future holds for Oscar, but nothing’s ever going to compare to Lando. Nothing. No one will ever come close.
He knows this with absolute certainty.

Lando had lost someone he loved deeply to the demons outside the wall in a very recent and brutal episode. He was still dealing with grief, but felt a need to head back and face the hellish wasteland again. Hunters were dwindling in number, and the constant threat never ceased to surround them. Then came Oscar, a law enforcer assigned as a hunter, unbothered and unflinching. A new hunting partner meant he would need to adjust to fighting alongside someone different and, the scariest part, to learn more about him as a person.

Lando inwardly flinches at the dry, uninterested tone. “Oh, right..” He put his arms on his hips. What was he supposed to do in this type of situation? He’s talking to a goddamn statue! Lando awkwardly cleared his throat.
“Is there something you need?” Piastri’s face contorted into one of pure perplexity. He took a small step back, distancing himself away from Lando.
Noticing the gesture, Lando smiled at him. His fists tightened behind his back, knuckles turning a horrifying shade of white. “I wanted to welcome you to the team. Hopefully, we can work together when the time comes.”
“Thanks.” With that, Piastri moved past him, heading to the water’s edge.

Piastri is off-putting, yes. Eerily stoic at times and a growing nuisance to Lando when he bests him at duels in front of everyone. But does Lando think this kid is some evil and dangerous wizard? Frankly, he couldn’t care less about what this kid is.
He just needs to beat him next time they’re opponents.

Lando and Oscar are rivals with a deep rooted hatred for each other, both vying to win a prestigious competition at Hogwarts. But the road to becoming a victor will be tricky as they become each other’s distraction and obsession.

Summary
Lando Norris, internationally famous rockstar, has three main priorities: drugs, avoiding eye contact, and pretending emotions don't exist.
To most, he's just flippant; a hot, young thing with messy habits. So what if he washes down breakfast with a shot of vodka? He's a rockstar, it practically comes with the territory of being too young and too famous.
But the reality of it is a lot more destructive.
Enter Oscar Piastri. Engineering student. Polite and boring to a fault. Really, he's nothing interesting.
Except, after one too many nights taken too far, Lando's manager hires Oscar as his chaperone.
Lando hates him immediately.
As the band's tour drags on, as the looming threat of FIA's album deadline becomes ever the more pressing, as Oscar gets dragged deeper into a strange world of glitz and grime, Lando begins to think that things might finally turn out fine.
