Surprisingly it works so well? Percy feels like his age and I love how the story deals with both the historical and the divinity aspects. I also never thought I'd ship Percy/OC but the relationship is barely a part of the story... and yet, at the same time, it's something you really come to root for.

This is most definitely a Jon centered fic (don't expect it to be a fix-it for the Dance characters) but boy is it a good one. He is the reluctant ruler, but fantastically good at it - exactly what I'd expect from a book accurate, world weary, future Jon.

This is one of those series I followed weekly because I just needed to know what happened next. Recently, I reread this, and it's even better complete. All the characters are complex and have an effect on the plot. The plot itself weaves together political machinations, clashing cultural norms, and realistic reactions of the people brilliantly. This is the best Britannian!Lelouch I've seen. You know that Lelouch will be Emperor - and this fic reads like the 'real story' behind the rise of Lelouch. The messy human story that isn't in the accounts. In particular I love the relationship between Charles and Lelouch, which is such a complex yet realistic exploration of a parent loving their child but not knowing how to parent, and therefore creating an anxious and depressive mess out of said child... but cranked up to 11 b/c they're royalty. It's SO good.
