An embarrassingly long time ago, so long ago that her/his/their original tumblr is deactivated, a lovely thorki fan posted this prompt.
I've been battling it ever since. It's over 22k words to date and even now I'm hesitant to start posting. All I can hope is that you think I'm doing a better job with this than I do!

The more time he spends considering what lies ahead, the less attractive his impending adventure becomes. After all, if he can’t wipe out a skirmish or enjoy the exotic pleasures another realm has to offer, he might as well save himself the effort and just stay home.

Summary
Tuesday-Thursday Noon 'til Nine, the neatly printed sign in the door reads. Thor breathes out a little sigh of relief; it hadn’t turned out to be as short a walk as he’d thought, and he'd more than half expected to find the shop closed already.
Three small bells clink and jingle as he pushes the door open. There's no one around; just a sleek black cat stretching and yawning in a blanket-filled basket at the base of the counter. The store smells richly of ink and good paper. Beautiful.

She has a faint accent Odin can’t quite place, except to be certain she’s not from around here. Finnish, maybe. “My oldest is twelve, and my middle son is ten.” Her son’s tiny hands come up to grab at her bracelets. "They like their teachers, but I miss having them around. And I could use their help with the baby.”
“They don’t go to school here, then,” he asks.
“No,” Farbauti says. She gently works her jewelry out of Loki’s shell pink, chubby hands. “They live with their father.”

“Quickly,” Odin echoes. “It has hardly been that. He has failed us for centuries, Frigga. We have given him everything and in return he has let us down at every possible opportunity. You do him no favors by letting him continue to think any of what he has done is acceptable.”

Everyone else sees the deleted Loki in Furs scene and pr0ns. I can only come up with parents and arguments and sorrow. Sigh.

Summary
Thor is reasonably sure Loki doesn’t really mean it. And even if his brother does, Thor knows it’s still all on to him to man up and do the right thing. Which is, of course, to apologize and walk away. And never, ever do it again.

Maybe I’m wrong,” she goes on in that tone of voice she always uses when she’s stating the obvious while steadfastly pretending otherwise, “but I get the feeling you’re avoiding one another.”

When I started this Friday I was planning to pr0n. It didn't work out quite that way. But you can still imagine some afterwards, if that suits you. :)

“You really need to get a life, you know,” his editor tells him over coffee, when he loses track of himself and spends far too much time gushing over the splendid house and its amazing stonework. “Not only is it weird, it’s kind of like stalking. Don’t think I’m going to come bail you out of jail.”
“No one stalks pools,” he tells her, laughing. He makes a mental note never to mention it again.

After a few minutes the screams taper off. What easily could have passed for someone getting murdered before just sounds like Loki, crying.
Thor tiptoes to the top of the stairs and listens carefully; the TV in the den is definitely on. He goes back to the door and turns the knob, pulling hard against it to keep the thing quiet. "Hey," he says, once he’s inside and the door is latched behind him. "I'll help. If you just get it over with we can still go."

This takes place in Babes!Verse, when Thor is nine-ish. It's told from Thor's point of view.
You don't really have to have read the rest of the Babes!verse stories to get something out of this one, although some of the tags may only apply if you have read the rest of it previously.
This one isn't fluffy, regardless of how much you know about the rest of the story.
